Lunden Abelson

(she/her)

Hi. I am Lunden a holistic somatic trauma therapist and healer. I believe each of us is hard wired to survive. In efforts to survive through hardship many of us use necessary methods to cope that are truly life savers. It is only later after the threat passes that they shifted energies on surviving opposed to thriving. When we are given the opportunity to tend to our wounds each of us can heal and reestablish a relationship with our true nature.

I offer holistic evidenced based trauma services to individuals, families and groups combining a number of different techniques that cover three main aspects of integrated healing; mind, body, spirit/play.

Mind: Interpersonal Neurobiology, Eye Movement Desensitization, (EMDR), Parts Work (Internal Family Systems), Attachment Therapy, talk therapy

Body: Dance/Movement Therapy, somatic therapy, breath-work, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Authentic Movement, bilateral work, nervous system therapies, aromatherapy and herbalism,

Spirit/Play: Dance/Movement Therapy, Authentic Movement, Creative Arts Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Nature based/eco-therapy, Mindfulness

In everything I do there is a strong emphasis on personal and creative expression to support you in your process of self awareness and transformation.

I support the individual growth of each person, throughout the lifespan, and I am rooted in the philosophy that all things are interconnected. When individuals are healthy and balanced relationships function better, family systems operate with more ease, our communities and our impact on the natural world is more cohesive.

What I believe

I believe we all are deserving of ease and wellness in our being.

I believe in offering sound evidenced based treatment.

I believe in respecting boundaries and in clear communication.

I believe we are each others keeper.

I believe that BIPOC, AAIP and PWD lives matter.

History and Land Acknowledgment

We must honor the history of the land and of this country in order to disentangle our soles from the trauma and atrocities that have been committed here at the personal and systemic levels. I believe trauma therapy must be actively engaged in anti-racism and decolonization of our systems, techniques and language in our efforts to heal and no longer perpetuate the same trauma we try to heal from.

I honor the Lenape and other Indigenous caretakers of the land and waters which I now have the deep honor to steward, live and work; those who lived here before, those who reside here now, as well as the generations to come. In efforts to be in good practice with this acknowledgment and commitment I have signed the Treaty of Renewed Friendship and make efforts to learn from the local Lenape community and participate in the Rising Nation River Journey. In addition I committed to being a faithful steward to the land, air and waters.
